QUESTIONS

  • No. But you are welcome to rent or buy a movie and have a private screening without a license. A private screening is not advertised to the public and is usually limited to a small number of people.

Without a license, it's OKAY for:

    • A Sunday School class to watch and discuss the film.

    • A teacher to show the film in his or her classroom (not a whole school event).

    • A person to invite friends to see the film in his or her home.

Without a license, it's NOT OKAY for:

    • A church to announce a screening in a bulletin or online.

    • Any person or organization to sell tickets to a screening event.

    • Any person or organization to show the film in a gathering space or theater open to the public.

  • Yes! Once you have paid for the screening license, you can run your event however you’d like. You can use the money you raise to bolster your PTA, fix that leaky classroom roof, or to give your choir director a bonus. The cost of the screening license is the same regardless of your audience size. Once you’ve received your license, no further costs are due to our company. Any ticket or concession sales are up to you. Simple, right?

  • No. Movies are better when they're watched next to other people anyway.

  • Yes! The movies we make spark important discussions and are meant to inspire Unity in the Body of Christ. We think that's a good enough reason to work with churches and other groups that may not be able to afford a screening license. If you think showing the film would bring about a spiritual good in your community, but you don't have the budget for it, just email us at info@stellamarisfilms.com .
