Stella Maris is a Louisiana-based film studio that produces cutting-edge, inspired content. We’re in the business of crafting films for the soul.

Walter Schneider

Born and raised near NASA in Houston, TX, Schneider had the perfect environment to develop his childhood imagination.  He struck up strong interests in storytelling and fine arts and his passion for film grew as time went on.  He graduated with honors with a BFA in Production Design from the Savannah College of Art and Design and has been working steadily on major feature films since.  In 2014, his work on the film 12 Years A Slave was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Production Design as well as the Art Director's Guild Award for Excellence in Production Design.  His work on the 2015 film, Trumbo, was nominated for the Art Director's Guild Award for Excellence in Production Design.  His work has additionally been recognized by two Emmy nominations in Outstanding Art Direction.  Schneider feels that he's been called to be a pioneer in film by redirecting the unprincipled sea of media while bearing a valuable and conscientious message.

His writing has garnered awards from the Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center, Disney, and other film organizations. His award-winning directorial work has aired on television and screened in multiple countries. His credits include A Long Way Off (2010), Slow Dance With Me (2016), and Hand of the Master: The Art and Life of Dom Gregory De Wit (2018). David aims to tell stories that incite and inspire.

Common Questions

Since you're making inspirational films, will they all be rated G or PG?

Sometimes it's important to display evil without pulling punches. This is where context is important. Rather than avoiding content that displays violence and immorality, we think that audiences should simply ask what the film is saying about such topics.  Showing evil for what it authentically is has the tendency to point people in another direction. That being said, Stella Maris will never glorify immorality, sexually exploit anyone's body, or encourage unnecessary violence in any of our projects.

What movies have you made before?

Everyone on the creative team at Stella Maris has independently worked on several blockbuster movies and TV Shows over the last decade.  As a company, Stella Maris has produced an award-winning short, Slow Dance With Me and a documentary film, Hand of the Master: The Art and Life of Dom Gregory De Wit. More projects are in the pipeline and we can’t wait to share them.
